George Edwin Thorpe, BSc (1976) MBA (1978) FNIM MIMC frcp
George has over 35 years of marketing and general management experience at local and international levels in industry, academic, training, consulting and entrepreneurship. He started off in brand management at Unilever Nigeria, proceeded to head up sales and marketing for prescription and OTC brands for Sterling Health, makers of Panadol, and subsequently posted to Guilford, UK in newly created position of Vice President Marketing for Sterling Health, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Indian Sub-Continent (MEEASC).
George returned to Nigeria in 1994 on appointment as first Nigerian MD of Sterling Health. He took early retirement following the global merger of Sterling Health and GSK, had a brief stint teaching strategy at the Lagos Business School while running his training and consulting firm, Market Space. He partnered over the last 15 years in setting up what is now probably the largest network of marketing communications and promotions agencies in Nigeria and across West and Central Africa.
George is a brand enthusiast, Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and happily married with four children.
